With prayer, we can learn to trust in God, in ourselves, and in others, because we can see answers to what we've prayed for. It gets easier after we know it can happen.
"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass" (Psalm 37:4, 5). This scripture can be such a big help to us. It tells us to delight in the Lord, and He will give us our desire. We can trust that His promises are true; we can count on them forever!
No matter what we're praying for, it must line up with the Word of God. If it doesn't, then we're in big trouble. Let's not blame God for our weaknesses and short-comings. Rather, let's remember that, "He is faithful to what He has promised!" (Hebrews 10:23)
Another key word in this verse (Psalm 37:5), is "commit." How do you learn to trust through prayer? Let go, and let God do what He wants to do. His way is always best. Take your hands off the situation! God's people are being robbed because they do nothing but feed into their problems. Often, they're not even aware of this because they are overcome by their circumstances.
"I will hear what God the Lord will speak; for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints, but let them not turn again to folly" (Psalm 85:5).
God may be starting to move on your behalf. Seeing your prayers answered causes you to trust in Him. This also makes you feel good about yourself. You will find that you can have more energy and strength. You will learn to have more confidence in God and in yourself.
By now, you're stepping out just a little by faith. You know within yourself that you can trust and believe that God didn't turn His back on you for any reason. "…for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5
